American Education Week 2024-2025

2024-2025 American Education Week Contest

Every year in celebration of American Education Week, the Carlisle Area School District asks our students in grades 5-12 to write or show what public education means to them, which they can display in various forms or media applications. Through the presentations showcased, you will see the impact of public education and hard work through the lens of each of our selected students, as well as the dedication and commitment of each staff member in the Carlisle Area School District that make these hopes, dreams, and visions a reality. Each representative receives a bronze medallion, certificate of recognition, their name inscribed on the winner plaque which hangs in the winner's school, and a gift certificate from Whistlestop Bookshop bookstore in Carlisle.

Elementary School:

This year, the fifth-grade representatives at the elementary level spoke about a specific part of the school day that makes their day (and the day of a Carlisle student) special at the elementary level. These videos were edited together and blended with some still photographs to create an engaging video about the elementary school day.

Middle School:

This year, our two middle schools showcase what’s great about each middle school by creating a community art collage either as an individual or in a small group. Students share their thoughts and drawings about what makes their school great. Middle school contributions should reflect why students love their middle school, what are favorite activities or subjects, and/or what makes Lamberton or Wilson a special or unique school. Students also can share or show appreciation for teachers, staff, and/or classmates.

Representatives from Lamberton Middle School created posters, which are also the centerpieces of their community bulletin board, showcasing all of the great things happening at Lamberton, which is also linked below.

High School:

This year, the students and staff at Carlisle High School had a door decorating contest to celebrate American Education Week. The students and staff were to show, through their door decorations, “how the group, club, or organization contributes to the education of Carlisle High School and makes us ‘Herd Strong.’”

Thank you to the students of HerdTV, under the direction of Mr. Fox for recording, editing, and presenting this year’s video. The student representative chosen to represent the High School and HerdTV is George Varela.
