Athletic Winter Sports Update 11/19/20

Information Pertaining to Winter Sports Tryouts and Season (2020-2021)

Hopefully this correspondence finds you safe and healthy.  The spread of the COVID-19 virus has caused many changes and modifications in all aspects of life, and athletics is no different.  With the recent increase in cases in Cumberland Country, and in particular Carlisle Area School District, a decision has been made to move the start of our Winter Sports Tryouts from Friday, November 20, 2020 to Tuesday, December 1, 2020.  Each team will practice in the same location as previously scheduled, but the date has now changed.  Please make the necessary arrangements for the new date.

In addition, the following requirements are required for tryouts:

  1. INFOSNAP account completed prior to participation in your son/daughter's first athletic season of the school year. The athletic INFOSNAP form is different than the overall school form but you will use the same InfoSnap username and password to logon to your account.
  2. Physical exam (within 6 weeks of 1st practice or after October 9, 2020) on PIAA form (Section 6)
  3. IMPACT Test (within 2 years of the 1st practice date (November 20, 2020)

Feel free to send any missing paperwork to Brandi Carpenter, ATC at [email protected]

Failure to have all three requirements completed and turned in may result in your athlete not being able to participate in the 1st day of practice.

We also wanted to share two (2) new requirements from the PA Department of Health:

Face Coverings
Does the Order apply to athletes and sports activities?
Yes. Everyone who participates in sport activities including coaches, athletes/cheerleaders, and spectators must wear a face covering, such as a mask, unless they fall under an exception in Section 3 of the Order.

Indoors: Coaches, athletes/cheerleaders, and spectators must wear face coverings, when indoors and where another person or persons who are not members of the individual's household are present in the same space, irrespective of physical distance. This includes while actively engaged in workouts, competition, and on the sidelines, etc.

Outdoors: Coaches, athletes/cheerleaders, and spectators must wear face coverings when outdoors. This includes while actively engaged in workouts, competition, on the sidelines, in the dugout, etc. If sustained six-foot distancing can be maintained, face coverings may temporarily be removed when outdoors.

Travel Restrictions
Dr. Levine signed an order effective November 20, 2020 that any individual “traveling into and returning to” Pennsylvania must produce a negative COVID-19 test result from a test administered within 72 hours of the travel into PA or quarantine for 14 days. Therefore, any new student trying to register or any current student/staff member that has traveled out of Pennsylvania on or after November 20th must follow this order. https://www.governor.pa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/20201117-SOH-Travel-Mitigation-Order.pdf (Update 11-18-2020)

Please note: Any time the school or district changes the mode of education for students, whether moving to a Tier 1 or Tier 3, information will be forthcoming as to the effect on extra-curricular activities.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and adjustments that you may need to make due to these changes.  Our priority is to keep the students, staff, and coaches safe at all times.  Your attention to the aforementioned requirements are much appreciated.  Please feel free to contact the coach if you have any questions regarding practice - click here for contact information.
