Carlisle Cross Country teams met Cumberland Valley up at Mifflin County yesterday. Last year it was the Eagles who snapped our boys' 7 year dual meet win streak, so it was time to get them back. Leading the way for the Herd was Kolbin Heberlig who was followed by scorers: Josh Blanton, Grant Best, Seth Reichenbach, Ben Kerr, Denny Shank, and Ben Smith. Carlisle XC was in action at CD East yesterday for a double dual with both East and Chambersburg. The last time the Chambersburg boys won the Commonwealth title and beat the Herd was in late September of the year 2015 at this same location...and 8 years later, they pulled it off once more by a score of 19-38. Our boys were led by Josh Blanton, Ben Kerr, Grant Best, Denny Shank, and Kolbin Heberlig. Our boys did take the win 15-50 against CD East and are now 2-2 on the season.
Our girls fared equally well, beating CD East 15-50, but dropping the meet to the Lady Trojans by a score of 22-39. The girls' meet was won by Carlisle's Ana Bondy, but Chambersburg's depth was too much for us. Also factoring in the team scoring were Elisabeth Bordner, Natalya Kennedy, Lilly Kaden, and Anna Schadler. The girls also are now 2-2 on the season with our final dual meet coming up next week.

Carlisle Cross Country hosted Cumberland Valley and Mifflin County for the Commonwealth Division titles on both sides. The girls fell to CV by a score of 20-41 and also to Mifflin by a much closer 26-29 score. The race winner was Ana Bondy, but then the bigger schools' numbers took their toll. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Herd were Jayde Thomas, Maeve Evans, Aubrey Mackey and Maggie Reidy.
On the boys' side the Herd easily bested Mifflin by a 19-42 score, but the Eagles came in ranked 10th in the State and showed why they deserved the State ranking. All streaks must end and a couple big ones did yesterday. Cumberland Valley hadn't beaten Carlisle in an XC dual since 2012. Also, our boys' streak of dual meet wins dating back to 2015 was snapped. And most notably, there will not be a 7th consecutive Commonwealth Division title this year. Our boys ran well, just not enough in the 25-32 loss. Kevin Shank and Andrew Diehl went 1-2, then Ryan Brody and Colby Williams were the seniors affecting the team score.

On the boys' side the Herd sunk the Little Lions on the strength of our #3 and #4 runners, Ryan Brody and Colby Williams. Andrew Diehl and Kevin Shank crossed the line 1-2, then the meet happened behind them. Ryan and Colby each passed State College runners on the finishing stretch to secure the win 27-30.

Carlisle Cross-Country runners were in action over the weekend at the District 3 Championships. On the girls side only 3 of our Mid-Penn All-Conference runners were permitted to run due to this year of restrictions, but all three ran into the top 50. Congrats to Gretal Shank, Karlie Powell, and Sophie Salomone on the best season we could have in 2020! The girls ended the dual meet season at 4-2 and with a team that had they been permitted to compete, would have placed 6th or 7th at Districts.
Our Boys team placed 4th and any other year would be heading off to States this upcoming weekend, but District Champions are the only team qualifiers to States this year. The Commonwealth Division title will have to suffice for this year! Our boys' scorers who would have gotten this team to states any other year were Evan Peachey, Kevin Shank, Andrew Diehl, Briar Thompson, and Conner Morrow. The boys ended the season with an undefeated dual meet record, for the 5th year in a row, and knowing they deserve to be at the State meet. Great season boys!

Please congratulate members of both the Boys' and Girls Cross-Country teams members on their performances at Mid-Penn's this past weekend! In this odd year in which only a handful of runners are permitted to advance to Districts and States, Carlisle XC is moving many on to Districts!
On the girls side, we had 4 of the best 30 runners in the entire Mid-Penn Conference: Gretal Shank, Sophie Salomone, Karlie Powell, and Alyssa Dyson. Our 5th scorer was Jayde Thomas and despite a great race from our girls only our top 3 will get to move on to Districts. As a team we were 4th behind State College, Mechanicsburg, and Hershey: all 3 teams that were top 5 at STATES last year!
On the boys's side we got the job done and were the top District 3 team so the team will move on to challenge for the District title next Saturday. Leading the way were Kevin Shank and Evan Peachey, followed closely by Andrew Diehl, Briar Thompson, and Conner Morrow.

Tuesday afternoon Carlisle Cross-Country teams headed to CD East to take on both East and the Chambersburg Trojans. Our girls team was shut out by the heavily favored Lady Trojans who are ranked as one of the top teams in Pennsylvania this Fall. Final score was 15-50. The Chambersburg girls hadn't beaten Carlisle in a dual meet since 2016 and exacted some revenge over their loss to the Lady Herd at last year's District III Championships. Our girls did come through with a 20-43 win over CD East.
On the boys side it was a battle of the only two undefeated boys teams in the Commonwealth and the Herd came through with a resounding victory. It was at CD East against Chambersburg when our Carlisle boys last suffered a dual meet defeat in 2015, but history did NOT repeat itself on Tuesday. Taking 5 of the top 7 places in the race the Herd overwhelmed the Trojans by a score of 19-36. Contributing to the big win was race winner Evan Peachey, then Kevin Shank, Andrew Diehl, Briar Thompson, and Andrew Booths. Carlisle also took the win against CD East by a score of 15-48.

State College came to Carlisle for a battle of Cross-Country powerhouses. Carlisle girls had not lost a dual meet in four years, but all streaks must come to an end eventually and the Lady Lions who were runners-up at States last year, were too much for us. State College ended our girls run with a 19-39 win on the Travis Trail. Scoring for Carlisle were the top 5: Sophie Salomone, Gretal Shank, Karlie Powell, Alyssa Dyson, and Jayde Thomas.
The Carlisle boys last lost a dual meet in September of 2015 when this year's senior class was in the 7th grade. State College did not compete against CV and Chambersburg on Tuesday so that they could attempt to end our dominance of the Conference Tuesday evening, but fell short 27-29. The Thundering Herd continued to roll on past the Little Lions led by Kevin Shank, Evan Peachey, Andrew Booths, Andrew Diehl, Briar Thompson, and Jacob Owen.
