Carlisle's Cross Country teams were up in Hershey for the State Championships this past weekend and had a great day. Ana Bondy and Greta Shepard qualified individually and they both ran the races of their lives on the Hershey Hills.  The AAA individual State title was decided by 4 girls within 4 seconds and Ana came away with a State Runner's up performance, this is the highest placing of a Carlisle girl in school history!

Our boys' team placed 14th in AAA and 17th overall in the entire State.  Scoring was very tight, we were actually closer to 8th place than we were 16th, so it was an outstanding run from the Thundering Herd!  Leading the way was Kolbin Heberlig and Seth Reichenbach, both juniors, followed by Grant Best, Ben Kerr, Hudson Focht, Denny Shank, and Ben Smith all affecting the team score.  With 4 of our top 6 returning next year the future is bright!

Carlisle Cross-Country teams were both in action over the weekend at the District 3 Championships.  Carlisle girls finished 17th as a team across all classifications and teams in District 3.  This was our best performance since we won the District team title in 2019!  Ana Bondy led the way with a 4th place overall finish, and Greta Shepard placed in the top-25.  Rounding out the team scoring were Natalya Kennedy, Elisabeth Bordner, and Emma Herholt.  Both Ana and Greta will continue on to the State Championships this coming weekend!

On the boys' side our Commonwealth Division Champions kept the season rolling by advancing the entire team to States!  Leading the way for the 5th place Herd were Kolbin Heberlig and Seth Reichenbach followed closely by Grant Best, Denny Shank, and Hudson Focht. Please congratulate the team and wish them well at the State Championships next weekend!

The Carlisle XC teams were in action over the weekend at the Mid-Penn Championships.  Around the Mid-Penn the Lady Herd was thoroughly expected to finally end their streak of never having failed to advance to the District Championships.  Our girls took that motivation and not only beat the teams we needed to in order to advance, we also beat a couple teams who were ranked well above us!  Ana Bondy led the way with the overall victory, Carlisle's first individual girls Mid-Penn Champ in at least 20 years!  She was followed by Greta Shepard who claimed All-Conference Honors, and both Elisabeth Bordner and Natalya Kennedy who were close behind.  Finishing up the team scoring for the girls was freshman Emma Herholt with a fantastic personal record!

The boys qualified through as expected and were led by four All-Conference Medalists in Kolbin Heberlig, Seth Reichenbach, Hudson Focht, and Grant Best.  Denny Shank was close behind to close out the Herd's team scoring.  Two weeks now until both teams head to the District Championships!

On Tuesday night up at Central Dauphin, the Herd faced both the CD Rams and the Cumberland Valley Eagles.  The boys "thundered" over their competition while defeating the Rams 17-40 and the Eagles 20-41.  Carlisle claimed 4 of the top 5 spots in the race and 5 of the top 10 overall.  Had the two teams combined against Carlisle, the Herd still would have won against the combined team 22-33.  The boys end the regular season undefeated for the 7th time in 9 years and win the Commonwealth Division crown.  Leading the way for the Herd were Kolbin Heberlig, Seth Reichenbach, Grant Best, Denny Shank, and Hudson Focht.

On the girls side we weren't so fortunate.  Ana Bondy continued her own undefeated streak individually, but the depth of both CD and CV were too much for the Lady Herd to overcome, falling 20-39 to the Lady Eagles, and 28-30 to the Lady Rams.  The girls' team ends the regular season 2-4 on the year as  Championship season approaches.

Yesterday, the Carlisle Cross-Country teams hosted the defending Boys District 3 Champions from Chambersburg and pulled out a nail-biter on the boys' side with a 27-28 victory!  This was a total team effort from top to bottom and many boys contributed who weren't in the top scoring 5.  Mifflin County was also there for this double dual and the Herd knocked off the Huskies as well by a score of 24-32.  Leading the way for the Herd were Kolbin Heberlig, Grant Best, Ben Kerr, Denny Shank, and Hudson Focht.  The boys are now the only undefeated team in the Commonwealth with two teams to go and are 4-0 on the season.

On the girls' side the Lady Herd earned a split on the day.  Ana Bondy won the meet, but the Chambersburg depth was too much as the final score was 21-38.  We did pull out a win over Mifflin County 24-31 to stay at .500 on the season.  Following Ana in and wrapping up the scoring for Carlisle were Natalya Kennedy, Greta Shepard, Mackenzie Mitchell, and Lilly Kaden.

Carlisle Cross-Country teams opened the dual meet season on Tuesday at home against State College and CD East.  On the boys side the Herd ran very well and came through with a 22-39 victory.  The Little Lions top runner won the race, but then our boys took the next 3 spots.  Leading the way for Carlisle were Kolbin Heberlig, Seth Reichenbach, Ben Kerr, Grant Best, and Denny Shank.

On the girls side it was the reverse.  Ana Bondy won the race, but then State's depth was too much for us in a 25-33 loss.  Following Ana across the line in our scoring top-5 were Greta Shepard, Elisabeth Bordner, Natalya Kennedy, and Aubrey Mackey.  Both teams picked up wins against under-manned CD East teams as well in the process.

The Boys are now 2-0 on the season and the Girls are 1-1.

Next up is our second and final home meet and our Senior Recognition Night, vs Chambersburg and Mifflin County on Tuesday Sept 10.
