Members 1st "Bison Buck"
BACKGROUND
In November of 2010 the Carlisle Area School District partnered with the Members 1st Federal Credit Union to provide financial literacy to students. This partnership has produced many exciting opportunities for students to apply knowledge learned in business classes to real world situations.
Students at Carlisle High School participated in a "name your branch" contest in which students were able to submit a name for their Members 1st branch. Select members of the High School staff and employees then voted on the names and "Members 1st Bison Buck" was launched.
In 2013 Carlisle High School and Members 1st received an Exemplary Program Award from Shippensburg University for their partnership and commitment to financial literacy among students. The partnership has continued to provide valuable presentations to Carlisle's Personal Finance class. Bison Buck is not just a branch at Carlisle High School it is a financial learning lab dedicated to educating students in financial literacy.
