AP Research Students Presents to Rotary
AP Research teacher, Ellie Park, alongside senior Lillian Sweeney and junior Caitlin Fay presented at the Rotary Luncheon on May 9th. AP Research, a course offered at few high schools in the state, offers students the opportunity to pursue interdisciplinary research on any topic of their choice over the course of a year.

Caitlin presented her final paper, “An Examination of Bioretention Cells in Climatic Situations and the Effectiveness of Removing Nitrogen and Phosphorus from Water,” which discussed the effectiveness of implementing rain gardens to absorb toxins as a part of storm-water management.

Lillian presented her final paper, “Language and the Pennsylvania ‘LGBT’ Community: A History, Analysis, and Discussion of the Future,” which examined the sociolinguistic impact of language, labels, and slurs on the LGBT community in central Pennsylvania.
