Boys Lacrosse hosted Mifflin County on a Festive Youth Night.

With dozens of future Herd lacrosse players cheering them on, the boys got off to a quick start against Mifflin County, going up 7 to 1 after the first quarter and 13-1 at halftime on their way to a 16-3 win.

Saturday April 11 vs. Woodson HS (Fairfax, VA)

On beautiful spring morning the Herd hosted the Cavaliers from Woodson HS for an out of league match up.

The boys opened the scoring off a nice cut from Caeden Moffat to take the early 1 - 0 lead. It was all Woodson for the rest of the first half as the well-coached Cavalier Defense stymied the normally well-balanced Herd attack. The boys gathered themselves and played much better team lacrosse in the second half, and the defense led by Holt Miller and Aaron Lippert hung for as long as they could, but just had to play too much defense as the visiting Cavalier offense seemed to get better as the game went on, pulling away to a 12 - 5 victory.

Other scorers for the Herd in included 2 goals each from Henry Boegel and Zach Casto.
Thursday April 9 vs. CD East

The boys hosted CD East in what turned out to be a very pleasant evening on the turf.

The defense earned their second shutout in as many games with a 18-0 final over the Panthers.

Tuesday April 7th @ Cedar Cliff

The boys traveled to Allen Middle School to take on Cedar Cliff on a crisp spring afternoon.

Varsity got out to a slow start, leading 2-0 after the first quarter, but picked up momentum as the game went on to score 15 goals and "pitch" a shutout behind staunch defense from Justin Wright, Kip Howland and Aaron Lippert. Offensive fire power provided by Dominic Bowman, Jack Shope and Isaiah Robinson with Ethan Fenner and Aivien Thompson providing the team with make it take possessions in the second half.

JV started fast and ended fast en route to a 7-2 victory highlighted by the clear of the year from goalie Landon Brooker. The offense was balanced by getting goals from seven different players including scores from Noah Lawrence and Connor Thorne.
Thursday April 2 vs. Central Dauphin

Porter Dunn and Dominic Stanfield were among the scorers at the offensive side of the field while Nick Shank and Avien Thompson patrolled the midfield, controlling multiple ground balls which added up to more possessions for the offense. Raf Cisneros and Nas Saric kept the score close as we mounted a 4th quarter comeback, but in the end was not quite enough as the JV squad fell to 2 and 4 on the season.

In the night cap, though playing shorthanded, varsity got off to a fast start and didn't look back with 3 goals in the first two minutes and a 10-4 score at halftime and finishing with a 20-9 victory over the Rams. Ethan Fenner again supplied the spark for the Herd winning 22 face offs and creating multiple transition opportunities throughout the evening. Holt Miller continued his solid play both on defense and the middle of the field with several takeaways, ground balls and adding 1 goal and 2 assists adding to up tempo pace of the offense.

Henry Boegel, Dominic Bowman and Zach Casto added their contributions at the offensive end with both well-paced possessions and timely transition goals helping the offense maintain its effectiveness throughout the night. The CD offense was explosive at times, but the defense held their own behind Aaron Lippert's stellar play in goal as well as in the clearing game, highlighted by a 50-yard assist to Zach Casto in the 3rd quarter.
Monday March 30 @ Chambersburg

The boys took on Chambersburg on a pleasant evening in CAHS Trojan Stadium.

Porter Dunn led all scoring with a hat trick to lead the team to a win, 5 to 3. Aivien Thompson and Deepesh Tamang allowed the Herd offense to secure the win with the incredible work at faceoff. While Landon Brooker only allowed 3 goals by the Trojan and Nasir Saric was a force on the defensive side not allowing the Trojans offense to get comfortable.

In the varsity game, the offense got off to a hot start behind the skill and intensity from Ethan Fenner on face offs and early transition. The Trojans kept pace en route to a 7-4 tally at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter the quick pace of the game continued and the competitive intensity was palpable with physical play on both sides that led to a 12-7 halftime score. The Herd corrected some of their 3rd quarter woes of late behind multiple goals from Zach Casto and Dominic Bowman. The intense play continued to escalate, and the Trojans managed to keep things interesting as the score was 18 - 10 going into the final quarter. The Herd established greater control of the game as they possessed the ball in longer stretches to outscore the Trojans 4 - 1 in the 4th quarter for a big road win, 22 - 11. Other offensive contributors included Henry Boegel, Jack Shope, Jaiden Kip and Justin Brody. The defense was steady behind Justin Wright, Kip Howland, Austin Marshall and Holt Miller (who also notched 2 face off wins as well as 2 goals and 1 assist).

Thursday March 26 vs CV

On a beautiful night at the turf field, JV started things off with a gritty effort against a talented JV squad from CV. The boys played hard throughout the game despite falling behind early and managed to stave off an even larger deficit behind an inspired effort form Noah Montney on defense and goals from Grant Vitek and Porter Dunn. The final tally was Herd JV 2 - CV 8.

In Varsity game the boys also got off on the wrong foot going down 3 - 0 early, only to carve out 4 straight goals of their own to take a 4-3 half-time lead. The 3rd quarter proved challenging again for the boys as CV pulled ahead 7-4. The offense fought back, but the boys fell short to bring the final to 9-7 bad guys.

The offense was led by seniors Henry Boegel and Eli Bell with contributions from Justin Brody and Dominic Bowman. Ethan Fenner continued to control the face off x and Holt Miller was steady on defense holding CVs top scorer in check for the better part of the evening.

Tuesday March 24 @ State College

JV played tough but lost 5-1. Landon Brooker was strong in goal with 10 saves. Ashton Coon played solid midfield defense and Grant Vitek scored the team’s loan goal.

Varsity played tough for the first half, keeping the score close at 4-2, but could not keep up with the aggressiveness and athleticism of state college on both ends of the field as state college pulled away in the second half to win 15-3. Goals by Isaiah Robinson, Dominic Bowman and Jack Shope.

Friday March 20 vs Mechanicsburg

On Friday night boy's lacrosse hosted Mechanicsburg on what turned out to be a much rainier night than anticipated, but ended up providing enough fireworks to keep everyone in the stands until the very end.
The JV boys got off to a slow start against the Wildcat JV going down 4-0 after the first quarter, but ended up going even with them the rest of the way fueled by a determined defensive effort form Nas Saric, Noah Montney and Dominic Stanfield including multiple takeaways and groundballs to earn possession for the herd. On the offensive end the Herd got goals from Porter Dunn, Jack Shope and Nick Shank, ending up losing 7-3.

The varsity game included big goal streaks from both teams ending in spectacular fashion. Ethan Fenner was dominant at the face off x winning 26 out of 27 draws in addition to scoring the first goal of the game and the first goal of the 4th quarter, both in 6 seconds! The herd pulled out to a 5 - 1 in the second quarter and finished the half up 7 - 3.

Mechanicsburg made a few key adjustments at halftime which led to them dominating the 3rd quarter and the beginning of the 4th quarter scoring 8 straight goals to take an 11-7 lead, which could have been even worse for the Herd if not for the stellar play in goal by Aaron Lippert.

Undaunted, the herd rallied to take a 12-11 lead late in the 4th quarter, including goals from Holt Miller and Henry Boegel. The Wildcats proceeded to tie the game 12-12 with about 30 second left.

The Herd nearly got a game winning goal on their next possession from Jaiden Kipp as his  shot rang off the post and went out of bounds with 4 seconds remaining; On the ensuing inbounds Henry Boegel found Dominic Bowman on the right wing who placed a laser of a bounce shot past the Mechanicsburg goalie as time expired to give the Herd the dramatic victory.

Thanks to all those who came out to endure the elements to support the boys in this memorable contest.
