Students Excel in VFW Essay Contests
The VFW established the Voice of Democracy program (VOD) in 1947 to provide students grades 9-12 the opportunity to express themselves in regards to democratic ideas and principles.  Each student composes an essay based on a writing prompt and then records it as an audio file.  This year’s essay prompt was “Why my vote matters.”

The following students were winners:
Hannah Alwine, Freshman - 1st Place
Brady Chilson, Senior - 2nd Place
Ryan Jin, Junior - 3rd Place

Allison Schuck, 8th Grade - placed 3rd in the VFW Patriot's Pen essay competition.  Middle School Contestants were required to write an essay between 300-400 words to the middle school prompt "Why I honor the American Flag".

Pictured with the students are Lamberton Middle School Principal Keith Colestock, Social Studies Program Chair Kevin Wagner, and English Teacher Dorene Akujobi.

Congratulations!!
