CHS Students Emad Ateim, Benjamin O’Connor, and Nathaniel Tofte were awarded First Place in the junior division at the Soup Cook-Off event held at the Carlisle Expo Center. With over 800 guests in attendance and 40 soups to sample, the event supports the AKT Foundation, a local organization which provides supplies and resources to people overcoming homelessness or escaping domestic violence.
The three students prepared 6 gallons of chicken, andouille sausage, and shrimp gumbo served over New Orleans dirty rice. A centerpiece of skewers represented the ingredients contained in the gumbo. The skewers were presented on a mirror and finished with an assortment of vegetable flowers and lemon garnishes.
The CHS Culinary Team was supported by their teachers, Chefs Carey Ehly and Bill Seras.
