iPad Troubleshooting for Internet Issues

iPad troubleshooting steps for internet/Wi-Fi issues at home

Try each troubleshooting option below. Test between each process.

1. Swipe closed all of the Safari tabs and all apps.

2. In settings, click the VPN toggle to turn off. It should turn itself back on in a few seconds.

3. 'Forget' the home Wi-Fi network and then rejoin the network

4. Do a hard shutdown of the iPad.

  * If your iPad has a home button, hold the home button and the power button at the same time, keep holding until the Apple logo appears.

  * If your iPad does not have a home button, quickly press and release the volume up button, quickly press and release the volume down button, then hold the power button until the Apple logo appears.

5. Unplug the power to your home router/wireless gateway, wait 60 seconds, plug back in and wait for the internet to come back online.

* If you have any Wi-Fi extenders, unplug them, wait 60 seconds, plug back in and wait for them to reconnect.

6. Test the iPad on a public Wi-Fi (examples: Starbucks, McDonalds, etc) and/or try using a personal hotspot (many cell phones have this as an option).

If the above troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue with your iPad, on your home Wi-Fi, you can request a replacement iPad from the school. If you are unable to immediately get a replacement or if the replacement iPad is still not working on your home Wi-Fi, consider trying the two additional troubleshooting options listed below.

1. If you have any parental controls set up on your home Wi-Fi, remove those settings to see if this is what is causing the connection issues.

2. Do a factory reset on your router/wireless gateway (If you are unsure how to do this, reach out to your internet provider for assistance).
