HACC Certificate of Residency

Instructions for Students to Obtain a HACC Certificate of Residency
from Carlisle Area School District

The HACC student MUST prove residency within the CASD boundaries as of July 1st for the current academic year or 6 consecutive months prior to initial enrollment. If the student no longer lives within the CASD boundaries they DO NOT qualify for a certificate. The certificate will grant a student the sponsored in-state resident fee discount. Certificate applications may be submitted online or in person at the administration office (see below).

Acceptable proof of permanent residence includes:

1) A valid PA Driver's License or other form of legal photo identification which shows an address located in CASD boundaries. The address needs to match the second piece of documentation you present.

Note: PA requires individuals to change the address on their driver's license within 15 days of moving. If one has not done so, they cannot prove residency until this is completed with the Department of Transportation. Visit www.dmv.state.pa.us to complete an online form or visit the motor vehicle office at 950 Walnut Bottom Road in Carlisle (717-412-5300).

2) And one or more of the following documents:

a) Current lease or Real Estate Tax Bill
b) W-2 for the most recent tax year
c) Copy of your most recent Local Tax Return or if you are a dependent of a resident, the front page of the most recent Federal 1040 Tax Return of the person who claimed you as a dependent.
d) Copy of your most recent pay stub and a pay stub from 6 months ago showing the same address.

e) Registered property (such as a bank account or car)

f) Voter registration

g) Military orders showing assignment to an active duty station within the CASD boundaries.

h) Copy of most recent utility bill and a utility bill from 6 months ago showing an address within the CASD boundaries.

When to Apply for a Certificate:

  • Register for your class(es) then obtain a certificate prior to tuition payment due date.
  • You must register for classes prior to applying for a Certificate of Residency.

Once a certificate is issued, it is valid for the remainder of the school year. The academic year runs August 22nd through August 21st of the following year. A new certificate of residency MUST be submitted for each year.
