Carpentry

Required Courses for Program Completion: Carpentry Trades I-II-II-9 credits total
Students enrolled in Carpentry program learn the fundamentals of residential and commercial construction. The program enables students to earn a variety of industry related certifications including Associated Builders and Contractors, Bobcat Safety, Forklift Operator, Scissors Lift, and OSHA safety. Students must purchase boots, work clothes and a tape measure. As a recognized Program of Study by the Department of Education, students can take advantage of many statewide articulation agreements to gain post-secondary credits.
INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS
National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)-Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) credential: upon completion of instruction in a number of construction technology modules including basic carpentry, weatherzation, and green technology, students receive their ABC card, recognized by contractors nationwide as a standard for excellence.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA): an industry recognized safe workplace certification. Students who receive this certification are trained to operate safely in all aspects of the construction trades.
Bobcat and Forklift Operator: students who receive this credential are certified to operate Bobcat and Forklift in residential and commercial settings.
Scissors Lift Operator: Sponsored by JLG Corporation: students who receive this credential are certified to operate a Scissors Lift in residential and commercial settings. Note: students complete training on one lift so they do not receive a certification due to the various sizes and safety requirements for higher reaching lifts.
