When a student has been absent from school frequently due to claims of illness or other urgent reasons, and said absences are of a questionable nature to school attendance personnel, that student may therefore be required to furnish a statement from a doctor for absences which occur the remainder of the school year. A letter will be sent to parents explaining this requirement.
A medical excuse will be required at (10) consecutive days per PA School Code or once total absences exceed 10 days, the district is permitted, per board policy, to require a medical excuse from a licensed practitioner or approval from the school nurse for all future absences. Unexcused absences may also impact the student's opportunity to make-up work, athletic eligibility, work permits, and other extra-curricular activities.
