Carlisle at Stan Morgan Invitational

Saturday, May7th

Over the rainy weekend, Carlisle Track and Field hosted 20+ teams for the Stan Morgan Invitational.  In what were certainly not ideal conditions some still managed to shine!

Carlisle's boys team were runners-up in the boys competition behind only the defending District Champions from Shippensburg.  Ship won with 78 points to our 67.  Chambersburg placed 3rd with 64.  There were no individual wins on the boys side, but Jeremiah Hargrove claimed silver in the triple jump and Brock Shughart nabbed silver at Javelin.

On the girls side we got many big performances from Carlisle athletes, mainly Stan Morgan meet MVP, Rhyan Mitchell.  She won the 100, the 200, and the Triple jump.  She also joined the 4x100 meter relay to a 4th win and finished the day responsible for 40 of the team's 98 points.  The girls won the meet by over 20 points to their nearest competitor, Mechanicsburg.  Ally Richwine won the High jump and Eva Leatherman won the 300 hurdles; great day for the Lady Herd!

Carlisle at Chambersburg

Tuesday, April12th

Carlisle Track & Field teams headed to Chambersburg yesterday for a battle of undefeated teams and came out on the short end on both sides.

For the first time since 2012, the Herd boys fell to the Trojans.  It wasn't for lack of effort, simply put, all streaks must come to an end at some point.  There were some truly outstanding performances from both teams.  The final score ended up being 77-73 where any one little thing makes the difference in this sport.  Leading the way for the boys were event winners Ray Bondy, Jacob Owen, Andrew Diehl, Kyle Henry, Brock Shughart, and Jeremiah Hargrove.

On the girls side it was the same story, an 80-70 coin-flip where if one thing goes differently the outcome would have been reversed.  Leading the way for the Lady Herd was triple event winner Vanessa Alder, who won the mile, 2 mile and 800, along with anchoring our winning 4x800 relay.    Eva Leatherman ran not one, but two District qulifying times to win both hurdle races.  Other individual event winners were Emily Sheffe, Ally Richwine, and Sejla Podzic.

The boys won by a 90-60 score.  Herd athletes won only 6 of the 15 individual events, but team depth picked up many 2nd and 3rd places while we also won all three relay events.  Leading the way for the Herd was Kevin Shank who was the only Carlisle double winner in the mile and 800. Other individual event winners were Jacob Owen in the 400, Darian Crim in the 200, Ray Bondy in the 2 mile, and Terrance Steele at Triple Jump.
