Carlisle at PIAA State Championships

Saturday, May 29

Congratulations to the Girls Track and Field team for a great day at the State Championships this past weekend!  For only the 2nd time in at least the past 15 years, 3 Carlisle girls returned home with State Medals from the Outdoor Championships.  Alyssa Dyson placed 7th in the 100 meter hurdles.  Ally Richwine placed 6th at the High Jump, and Ella Boback set a new school record en route to her 6th place finish in the 200 meter dash.  The old school record was held by Ashley Hodge and was set back in 2004, special congrats to Ella for this special achievement!

Carlisle at District III Championships

Saturday, May 22

Congratulations to the Girls Track and Field team for their 5th place finish at Districts this past weekend!  Alyssa Dyson is the new District Champion in the 100 meter hurdles!  Ella Boback placed 2nd in the 200 and medaled in the Long Jump.  Ally Richwine was 3rd at High Jump and also medaled in the Triple Jump.

Our 4x800 relay hit on some bad luck. Even while holding a top-12 time in the State, 5 of the teams in front of us were from District 3, so no State berth there this year.

Our 4x100 relay did make it through though so joining Ella, Alyssa, and Ally at States this weekend will be Raniyah Le'Iato, Rhyan Mitchell, and Melissa Pham.  Wish them luck this Saturday at the State Championships!

Carlisle at Mid-Penn Championships

Saturday, May 15

Both Boys and girls Track and Field teams ended the regular season last week with 5-2 records through the Commonwealth Division where Carlisle continues to beat many bigger schools.

The Mid-Penn held Track and Field Championships at Chambersburg on Saturday and the Herd came through with some outstanding results.

On the boys side we had two boys who were All-Conference in multiple events: Ray Bondy in the mile and 2 mile and Zach Denton in the high hurdles and Triple Jump.  Andrew Booths also earned all Conference honors in the mile.

The Lady Herd claimed 3 event Championships on the day.  Alyssa Dyson won the high hurdles, Ally Richwine won the High Jump, and the 4x800 meter relay team of Sejla Podzic, Sophie Salomone, Emily Leatherman, and Gretal Shank, all brought home golds.

Bringing home silvers and scoring big points were again Ally Richwine at Triple Jump, and also Ella Boback in the 200.  Our other All-Conference medalists were numerous: Karlie Powell in the 2 mile, Eva Leatherman in the 300 hurdles, Rhyan Mitchell at Triple Jump, Emily Sheffe at Shot put, and both our 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relay teams.  The 4x1 was made up of Raniyah Le'Iato, Rhyan Mitchell, Alyssa Dyson, and Ella Boback.  The 4x4 was made up of Sejla Podzic, Gretal Shank, Maia Iannuzzi, and Ella Boback.

All sights now set on the District Championship meet beginning Friday!

Carlisle at Cumberland Valley

Tuesday, May 4

Carlisle Track and Field teams travelled to Cumberland Valley on Tuesday afternoon for a battle of unbeatens on the girls side.

The final score showed the Lady Eagles with an 88-62 win over the Lady Herd.  This was Carlisle Girls' Track & Field Team's first loss to CV since 2017, but in the process we've set ourselves up very well for a charge to the District Championships a few weeks out.  A tenth of a second here, a few inches there and the meet could have gone the other way.  Leading the way for the girls was Ella Boback who won the 100, 200 and the Long Jump.  Ally Richwine picked up wins at High Jump and Triple Jump.  Our only other individual event winner was Alyssa Dyson in the high hurdles.    The girls are now 5-1 on the season with sights set on the District Championships in two and a half weeks.

The Boys also fell to CV by a score of 87-63.  Leading the way for our boys was Zach Denton, who won 3 individual events and claimed a 2nd place in 300 hurdles.  Our other individual event winners were Andrew Booths, Evan Peachey, Kyle Henry, and Brock Shughart.  The boys are now 4-2 on the season.

Carlisle Track and Field travelled to Mifflin County to take on the Huskies on Tuesday afternoon and came home with a split decision.

Our boys were in a tightly contested series of events pretty much everywhere and just didn't come out on top of enough coin flips.  The final score was 81-69 in favor of the Huskies.  Leading the way for the Herd was triple event winner Zach Denton who won both hurdle races and the Triple jump.  Our other individual event winners were Charlie Dib, Ray Bondy, Briar Thompson, and Chase Henry.  The Herd stands 1-1 on the season.
