Carlisle at District III Championships
Saturday, May 21st
Many Carlisle Track and Field athletes brought home medals from the District 3 Championships over the weekend.
Most notably were our 2 District Champions, Rhyan Mitchell who won the Girls Triple Jump and Jeremiah Hargrove who won the Boys' Javelin throw.
Boys joining Jeremiah at States will be Kevin Shank in the 3200 run and the 4x800 relay where Kevin was joined by Ray Bondy, Andrew Diehl, and Jacob Owen.
Girls joining Rhyan at States will be Vanessa Alder in the 1600, Ally Richwine at High Jump, and Eva Leatherman in the 300 hurdles.
Others girls who medaled top-8 in our relays, but didn't hit the State marks to move on were Emily Leatherman, Lydia Ring, Brooke Denlinger, and Melissa Pham.
Of the 45 teams who qualified athletes in AAA, Carlisle girls claimed 4th place, while the boys' placed 15th.

Carlisle at Stan Morgan Invitational
Saturday, May7th
Over the rainy weekend, Carlisle Track and Field hosted 20+ teams for the Stan Morgan Invitational. In what were certainly not ideal conditions some still managed to shine!
Carlisle's boys team were runners-up in the boys competition behind only the defending District Champions from Shippensburg. Ship won with 78 points to our 67. Chambersburg placed 3rd with 64. There were no individual wins on the boys side, but Jeremiah Hargrove claimed silver in the triple jump and Brock Shughart nabbed silver at Javelin.
On the girls side we got many big performances from Carlisle athletes, mainly Stan Morgan meet MVP, Rhyan Mitchell. She won the 100, the 200, and the Triple jump. She also joined the 4x100 meter relay to a 4th win and finished the day responsible for 40 of the team's 98 points. The girls won the meet by over 20 points to their nearest competitor, Mechanicsburg. Ally Richwine won the High jump and Eva Leatherman won the 300 hurdles; great day for the Lady Herd!
Carlisle vs. Cumberland Valley
Tuesday, May 3rd
Carlisle Track and Field teams hosted Cumberland Valley yesterday for senior night. The meets were both losses, but good weather and good competition led to some great times and marks for Districts later this month.
On the boys side CV defeated the Herd by a score of 96-54. Leading the way for the Herd were individual event winners, Brock Shughart, Jeremiah Hargrove, Kyle Henry, Ezeekai Thomas, Chase Henry, and Kevin Shank.
The girls' side wasn't much different as the Lady Herd fell 113-36. Leading the Herd was double event winner Rhyan Mitchell in the 100 and 200. Other individual event winners were Ally Richwine, Eva Leatherman, and Brooke Denlinger.
Carlisle vs. Central Dauphin
Tuesday, April 27th
Carlisle Track and Field teams were in action yesterday and came away with wins over Central Dauphin boys and girls teams.
On the boys side the Herd won 93-55. Leading the way were event winners Dirk Godjin, Kevin Shank, Charlie Dib, Hayden Mohr, Brock Shughart, Jeremiah Hargrove, Kyle Henry, and Isaac Mains. The boys are now 3-2 on the season.
On the girls side the Lady Herd won by a similar score of 96-50. Leading the way winning individual events were Vanessa Alder, Eva Leatherman, Lydia Ring, Rhyan Mitchell, Emily Sheffe, Sarah Waleski, Brooke Denlinger, and Ally Richwine. The girls are now 4-1 on the season.
Carlisle at Chambersburg
Tuesday, April12th
Carlisle Track & Field teams headed to Chambersburg yesterday for a battle of undefeated teams and came out on the short end on both sides.
For the first time since 2012, the Herd boys fell to the Trojans. It wasn't for lack of effort, simply put, all streaks must come to an end at some point. There were some truly outstanding performances from both teams. The final score ended up being 77-73 where any one little thing makes the difference in this sport. Leading the way for the boys were event winners Ray Bondy, Jacob Owen, Andrew Diehl, Kyle Henry, Brock Shughart, and Jeremiah Hargrove.
On the girls side it was the same story, an 80-70 coin-flip where if one thing goes differently the outcome would have been reversed. Leading the way for the Lady Herd was triple event winner Vanessa Alder, who won the mile, 2 mile and 800, along with anchoring our winning 4x800 relay. Eva Leatherman ran not one, but two District qulifying times to win both hurdle races. Other individual event winners were Emily Sheffe, Ally Richwine, and Sejla Podzic.
Carlisle vs. Mifflin County
Tuesday, April 5th
Carlisle Track & Field teams hosted Mifflin County yesterday and both teams pulled through with another set of wins.
The boys won by a 90-60 score. Herd athletes won only 6 of the 15 individual events, but team depth picked up many 2nd and 3rd places while we also won all three relay events. Leading the way for the Herd was Kevin Shank who was the only Carlisle double winner in the mile and 800. Other individual event winners were Jacob Owen in the 400, Darian Crim in the 200, Ray Bondy in the 2 mile, and Terrance Steele at Triple Jump.
On the girls side the Lady Herd ran away from the Lady Huskies by a lopsided 116-33 score. Carlisle girls won 17 of the 18 total events! The girls were led by four double event winners: Ally Richwine (Long Jump and High Jump), Rhyan Mitchell (100 and Triple Jump), Vanessa Alder (mile and 800), and Eva Leatherman in both hurdle races. Other individual event winners were Sejla Podzic, Ella Boback, Jayde Thomas, Emily Sheffe, Sarah Waleski, and Brooke Denlinger.
Both teams are 2-0 on the season now.
Carlisle at Central Dauphin East
Tuesday, March 29th
Carlisle Track & Field teams travelled to Landis Field to take on CD East to open the dual meet season.
The Girls won big, 117-32 and won all but one individual event. Leading the way for the Lady Herd were multiple event winners: Rhyan Mitchell (Triple Jump, Long Jump, and 100), Eva Leatherman (300 hurdles and 100 hurdles), and Vanessa Alder (400, and 2 mile). Other athletes winning individual events were Brooke Denlinger at Javelin, Sarah Waleski at Discus, Emily Sheffe at Shot Put, Kayla Spencer in the mile, Emily Leatherman at 800, and Ally Richwine at High Jump.
The boys meet was closer, an 87-63 score, but the Herd came out on top. The boys' team won 8 of the 15 individual events and 2 of the 3 relays. Individual event winners were Ray Bondy in the 2 mile, Kevin Shank in the 800, Ryan Brody in the mile, Jacob Owen in the 400, Terrence Steele in the 110 hurdles, EZ Thomas at the High Jump, Jeremiah Hargrove in the Triple Jump, and Brock Shughart at Javelin.
