School social workers provide support to students by addressing social, emotional, or basic needs that present barriers to student success. School social workers connect students and their families to basic needs such as clothing, food, childcare, housing, healthcare, and other community resources. In addition to direct support services, school social workers work collaboratively with other school personnel and community partners to implement practices that promote the success of all students.
